December 4, 2019
According to the most recent CSO Statistics report, there have been 16,969 incidents of Burglary and related offences reported in Q4 2018. The top two industries most affected were retail and warehouse sites.
Speaking about the level of threats businesses face ahead of the Christmas break, Top Security’s General Manager Guy Davies commented:
“68,248 theft-related crimes were committed in Ireland last year. It is frightening how vulnerable business premises are after-hours when companies don’t have appropriate measures in place to secure it. Unfortunately; every business no matter what size is at risk out of hours. It could be an intruder, fire or something less serious.”
Intruder Alarm
Test your alarm and make sure it is fully functional ahead of the holiday break. Ensure your key-holder information is up to date. Any changes with regard to nominated key-holders must be communicated to your 24 hour monitoring station.
Security Lightning
Good security lighting is an excellent deterrent and should be designed for clear visibility from inside and outside the premises increasing the likelihood of intruders being noticed.
Mobile Patrols
Mobile patrols are a cost effective solution that can be tailored to specific requirements of the business. Patrol officers perform internal and external checks of premises after-hours giving you a peace of mind whilst away.
Having a reputable security company marking their presence around your business property at regular intervals will make it less vulnerable to criminals.
In the event of an alarm activation
Do not approach the business premises yourself or send a staff member to investigate. Engage with your security provider to attend alarm activations to guarantee prompt response time. This will reduce potential damage to your premises and eliminate the risk of injury to your employees completely.
